Villainous Wings

The Disney Noob ranks the Villainous Wings #6 in his Halloween top 10 and says they nearly made his top five. He describes Korean-style gochujang wings drizzled with ghost pepper ranch, cooked to perfection and super crispy on the outside, with both sauces bringing real heat. At about eight dollars he calls them a killer deal and probably the best value in his whole top 10.

Ordinary Adventures gave these five out of five. Chicken wings in a sweet and tangy gochujang sauce with ghost pepper ranch and chives, and the heat is the story: the first bite reads as ranch and almost barbecue, then the gochujang builds and they were genuinely surprised how spicy it got. Underneath the sauce they rate it simply as a very good chicken wing, and impressive for quick service. The clear caveat is that this is not one to order if you do not like spice. They also note you only get four.

Wings tossed in sweet and tangy gochujang sauce, drizzled with ghost pepper ranch, and topped with chives — four wings for around $8. She calls it possibly the best food of the day: the wings stay crispy even under the sauce, the chicken is juicy, and the gochujang-and-ranch combination brings a noticeable, building spice that she — despite a decent spice tolerance — feels getting to her by the end. Her verdict: not for the faint of heart, but a strong finish to the day's foods.

Magic Journeys tried these at Smokejumpers Grill on a 98-degree afternoon and came away sold. They found the wings crunchy and very flavorful, with the sweet, tangy gochujang glaze nicely balanced against the ghost pepper ranch. Be warned that the heat is real: the host rated the spice about a 7 out of 10, and said it is no joke. Their bottom line was that they would definitely get them again.
