Served at Takumi-Tei

Rice Dish – A Gentle Ending

The final savory course is a simple rice dish, such as sushi or ochazuke. It’s light, aromatic, and designed to bring balance and closure to your meal—an elegant return to the roots of Japanese cuisine.

The gohan-mono rice course on the December 2024 winter menu: seared Japanese wagyu nigiri, bluefin tuna nigiri, pickled cabbage and a red miso soup. The host called the wagyu nigiri the bite of the night, fatty and juicy with the rice soaking up its flavour, and the bluefin finally had the flavour she had been looking for all meal. She loved the pickled cabbage and the rich red miso too, and said this course beat every other one by a mile.
