Disney Food Blog tried the Maleficent Funnel Cake at Epic Eats in Hollywood Studios: a chocolate funnel cake with shimmer, powdered sugar, ube and matcha icing, vanilla soft serve and chocolate horns, for about $10. They called it very good. You can't really pick out the matcha or ube on their own, but with the chocolate funnel cake they create a unique flavour that reminded them of a charred marshmallow s'more. The ice cream and horns weren't the stars, and the horns were a little bitter for their taste, but the funnel cake makes up for it.

3 reviewsBritney of Extra Magic Minutes tried the $9.99 Maleficent Funnel Cake at Epic Eats in Hollywood Studios: a black chocolate funnel cake with ube and matcha icings, shimmer, powdered sugar, vanilla soft-serve and chocolate horns. She said it was fried perfectly, very crispy and not undercooked, which is impressive for a dark chocolate batter. The chocolate flavour is understated, and with the ice cream it mostly tastes like a regular funnel cake. Eaten without the soft-serve, the ube and matcha icings come through with a little earthiness and sweetness. They are mild enough that non-fans can still enjoy it. She ranked it a must-get.
WrightDownMainStreet tried the new $9.99 Maleficent Funnel Cake at Epic Eats: a black funnel cake with powdered sugar, ube and matcha icing, vanilla soft serve and chocolate horns. She called it so good, saying Epic Eats always does funnel cake right, hot, fresh and super crispy. Her one complaint was that it is billed as chocolate but tastes like regular funnel cake batter with black dye, which was a little disappointing. Even so she found it delicious, especially with the melting vanilla ice cream, though the ice cream masks the ube and matcha icing, which she thought were both phenomenal. Her mom said she didn't care what flavour it was because it was delicious and huge, and both named it their favourite food of the day.
